The cylinders of a Boxer BMW are exposed. A fall, a slip, or scraping against a plastered wall while manoeuvring can easily lead to mechanical damage, up to and including grinding through the valve cover, or at least annoying scratches. Since the valve covers are exclusively mounted by frictional connection, there is a risk that any impact will cause the valve cover to shift relative to the cylinder head, potentially damaging the complex valve train or the mounting threads. Therefore, additional protection for the valve covers is of particular importance. We have developed a set of highly effective protectors for this purpose. These are characterised by their close-fitting, contour-accurate placement on the valve cover, requiring precise manufacturing.

The protector is made of high-strength aluminium. Its protective rigidity is achieved through its three-dimensional bent form and the generous material thickness of 3 mm. On the inner side, facing the valve cover, we have constructively integrated segments made from a high-temperature-resistant elastic material. These segments are dimensioned to absorb shocks based on their Shore hardness*). Their supporting and protective effect ensures that external forces are evenly absorbed by the segments and distributed over three solid mounting points per protector, to avoid force peaks. The high-quality design and functionality of the protectors are completed by a 12 mm thick, integrated grinding pad. In the event of a fall, it serves as protection to prevent grinding through the valve cover and the inevitable oil loss that would result. In this way, the protectors help to reduce or avoid the risk of consequential damage. In many cases, they allow the ride to continue unimpeded after an incident. Installation is easy with the included mounting kit.
